August 3, 2017, Tim Mullaney, Senior Housing News - Avamere Health Services, a major regional senior care provider in the Pacific Northwest, has a new CEO. John Morgan, who began serving as CEO in 2012, has been replaced in that position by Gary Wart, Avamere confirmed Thursday to Senior Housing News.

Wart previously has served as president, as well as chief operating officer of facility operations, at Avamere.
Based in Wilsonville, Oregon, Avamere was established in 1995 as a single nursing facility. Currently, the Avamere Family of Companies provides a full continuum of services in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and Colorado. Its 15 senior living communities offering independent living, assisted living, and memory care had a resident capacity of 1,282 in 2016, according to information compiled by provider association Argentum.
Avamere also offers home health, home care, hospice, transitional care, skilled nursing, and other services, with a reach exceeding 10,000 seniors, according to the Portland Business Journal.
Among other initiatives during his tenure as CEO, Morgan recently was involved in starting a pilot with IBM to utilize “Watson” cognitive computing technology to crunch massive amounts of data, and use predictive analytics to improve care and services in senior living and short-term rehabilitation settings.
